Gorilla tracking Tips

  • Waterproof walking shoes or hiking boots are for tracking
  • Gardening gloves for protection against stinging plants
  • Long trousers and long-sleeved sweaters or shirts while in the forest.
  • Photography is only allowed with a flash off so as not to scare the Gorillas
  • Porters are available to help you with your bags at a small fee
  • Carry enough drinking water because you never know the location of the Gorillas from the start of your hike. Be prepared for long walks just in case
  • Eating, drinking, and smoking near the gorillas is forbidden. The ranger will always communicate when it’s appropriate for you to do so.
  • Bwindi being a tropical forest, it can rain anytime so we encourage you to carry a rain jacket.

Extra Notes

Accommodation named in the itinerary is based on availability during the preferred travel dates. In case of non-availability, similar types of accommodation will be recommended.

Gorilla permits cannot be confirmed until a booking/ payment has been made by the clients.

 This Safari can be organized throughout the year based on the travel dates of the clients and the availability of Gorilla permits. It can as well be tailored to fit the tastes and preferences of the clients.

Day 1: Arrival in Uganda

Arrival into Uganda and pick up from the Entebbe international airport. Accommodation at Protea Marriott Hotel Entebbe located 5 minutes from the international airport. Depending on the time of the flight, clients will have the afternoon off to do a cycling tour around the main attractions in Entebbe just in case they wish to do so. (Breakfast & dinner)

Lunch can be organized based on the time of arrival of clients

 

Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – Buhoma

After an early breakfast, drive off to the airport for your domestic flight to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with Aerolink our domestic flight partners. The flight takes off at 7:00 am and arrives at Kihihi airstrip at 8:45 am and therefore clients are expected to be at the airport in time. At the airstrip, the clients will be welcomed by our representative driver and later transferred to the lodge which will take roughly 2 hours and 30 minutes on an unpaved road.

Estimated time of travel: 3 hours & 45 minutes

 

Day 3: Gorilla tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

 After an early breakfast drive to the briefing point in the park where the Gorilla tracking is to start from. We shall leave the lodge with packed lunch boxes to prepare for the Gorilla tracking. After the briefing from the Ranger guide, traverse to the Gorilla sanctuary to start tracking these lovely creatures. It takes approximately 1 hour or less to find the gorillas based on where they are located and after you spend 1 hour observing and taking pictures. The time you spend observing these endangered species is worth a trip to any part of the world and can never be forgotten.  Clients are expected to have enough drinking water, good hiking shoes, rain jackets in case it rains, gloves if necessary, long-sleeved clothes. Time spent with these Gorillas is very priceless. After tracking, transfer back to the lodge for complete relaxation to immerse in nature.

Optional Activity

A community tour can be down around the village which gives you an insight into the way of life for the locals. A Batwa cultural experience gives you an insight into the way of life of the Batwa ( pygmies ) and how they use local herbs for medicine, lighting a fire with sticks, and their dances. This can be organized at a fee on earlier communication.

Day 4: Transfer back to Entebbe for overnight or Departure

After spending time in the land of the famous Gorillas start your journey to the airstrip for your flight back to Entebbe. The flight takes off at 9:45 am and arrives in Entebbe at 11:25 am. Clients will be picked and transferred to Protea Hotel where they are to spend their night. If clients wish, a city Kampala City tour can be done at a cost of 50 USD per person. Kampala is located 42kms from Entebbe and the main attractions include the local markets, cathedrals, the biggest mosque in East Africa, and many other OR take up a cycling tour @30 USD each around Entebbe and its main attractions which take roughly 2 to 3 hours

Estimated travel time: 4 hours & 30 minutes

 

Day 5. Departure

Transfer to Entebbe International Airport for a flight back home carrying memories about Uganda along with you. The hotel is a 5 minutes’ drive away from the Airport.
